From the desk of Ron Cantu
Dear Friend,
hen I started my very first
online business, I met with only moderate
success. My plan was to offer a product at a lower price than
most if not all my competitors. To do this I would cut cost
in other areas. I was sure simply offering a good
product at a discounted price would be enough to attract a
horde of new customers and I would prosper.
Well I was partially correct. People were attracted to
my discounted price but they weren't attracted to my
attitude. You see I thought because my price was lower it
was okay if my customer support was lacking. I was annoyed
that my new clients failed to appreciate the deal they were
getting. Boy did I get that one wrong!
I wasn't giving
them more value. I was giving them less. I was selling them a
product and not teaching them how to use it. Which in effect made my product worthless. It would be
like NET10 selling our $695 Gold Plan to an 80 year old farmer operating a
peach stand off an old country farm Road. That plan as good as
it is has little or no value to him. I didn't get that at
the time and only felt frustration.
A friend
of mine suggested I
read a book called The Science of Getting Rich. My first
instinct was why? I was annoyed with the customers from
an online business that I was considering closing down. The
last thing I wanted to read was a 90 year old book on
Getting Rich. What possible relevance could it have to what
I am doing today?
I was
wrong again.
"The Science of Getting Rich" is quite possibly
the most relevant book on wealth and business that I have
ever read. But more than that it has
taught me lessons that I have applied in areas of my life. You see you can't
run your business one way and live your life another. In the
end something's gotta give. I received so much more
than I imagined from this
little book but two of the most important lessons I picked up
was first, "to always give more value than you receive"
and secondly "to be genuinely grateful for all that you do
receive".
Simply
translated that means to give my clients more value than they
give me. Now that doesn't mean if they give me 100 dollars I
give them 200 back. I would go out of business rather quickly
if I did that. What it does mean is give them back something
that has more value to them than that 100 dollars they spent. In terms of PPC and SEO that means
always giving my clients back a much greater return
on their investment (ROI).
The
second lesson I walked away with is gratitude. In the past I always felt the success I had in my business ventures
was all about me. I did most of the ground work so I deserved
all of the kudos and pats on the back. How
egocentric and wrong could I have been. I neglected the number
one root of my success and that was my customers. Without them
I couldn't have provided the type of lifestyle I wanted for me and my family. I shall
never forget this again.
Now
you can call these two lessons my mission statement or my
customer pledge, but what it's really more about is a way of
doing business that is ingrained in everything I and we at NET
10 Solutions do. We strive to give more value in all of our
products and services and show more gratitude for our
customers patronage. We are not always 100 percent successful
in accomplishing this but we always work toward that effort.
